How would this apply to the 1.6 engine though do we need lower compression pistons or just a thicker head gasket :hmmm: could you also give me the cost for doing the turbo conversion on the 1.6 engine [told you I will keep you busy didnt I :biggrinsanta:
A thicker head gasket is an easy (but not proper) way to increase durability up to 0.8bar...It is wise to decrease the compression ratio down to 8:1 to be safe...But by decreasing the compression ratio to that number you get more turbo-lag..
The right way is to replace factory pistons with forged ones (custom made by any well known company ex. acralite). You can "order" them to give you a compression ratio of high 8:1 or low 9:1 to increase trottle response and decrease turbo lag....
the total cost incl. blow off valve, whole exhaust system -not only the downpipe- intake (taken from a lancia 1.6 or bravo 1.6), gauges bla bla bla ,is up to 5000Euros...
If you include forged pistons the price goes up by 1000Euros but the apllied pressure can be increased up to 1.3bar....
In addition it is essential to replace the stock gearbox with a stock punto gt one..2 screws need to be modified..I ve smashed 2 of them stock 1.6 stilo's gearboxes...:biggrinsanta: (4 gear is extremelly weak) :biggrinsanta:....

Thats quite an involve process and didnt realise it was .....did you do all the work on yours yourself ?
I had all this work done by someone who knew what to do...I am just playing smart cause i 've observed all this work ...:weihnacht2:
But Pantelis (1.2 turbo-ed) did all this work by himself..!

Nope in volos like me...It produces from 130 up to 150bhp (depending on the owners mood and finger tickling with that pressure valve mounted on the gear nob)....
The gearbox...He used a different aproach. The "i don't want to smash the gearbox one"..He did not substitute the stock clutch with a reinforced one so the gearbox does not suffer with much strain. Doouch:weihnacht2:

Yes it is a very different approach al together isnt it particulaly the valve on his knob [he should see a doctor about that you know ]:xmas-smiley-031: clutches even seem to be a bit of an issue here in the UK as standard I have a valeo one tucked up in my wardrobe waiting for the time when mine needs replacing :weihnacht2:

Sorry for the delay, i didn't notice this post and now i am going to whip my back for doing that...:icon_lol:
My informatives told me that pistons and headgasket will fit just fine, and the 0.4lt difference between the coupe and abarth engine is exactly due to a bigger stroke...Fiat designers really worked them selfs to death trying to produce horsepower from the bravo brava N/A engine, while following EU emissions regulations...:biggrinsanta:..Which is good for uk abarth owners trying to turbo their stilos...!!:biggrinsanta:
