Oυσία σε σαμπουάνμπλοκάρει τα νευρικά κύτταρα
Πειράματα που έγιναν με εγκεφαλικά κύτταρα ποντικών έδειξαν ότι η επαφήμε μια χημική ουσία, η οποία περιέχεται σε πολλά προϊόντα που χρησιμοποιούμεκαθημερινά, εμποδίζει την ανάπτυξητων νευρικών κυττάρων.
Πρόκειται για τη χημική ουσίαmethylisothiazolinone (ΜΙΤ), η οποία ανήκει σε μια ομάδα ουσιών που ονομάζονταιβιοκτόνα και χρησιμοποιείται ευρέως σε κρέμες χειρός, σαμπουάν, βαφές μαλλιώνκι άλλα καλλυντικά (για να αποθηκεύονται για μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα χωρίς νααναπτύσσονται
βακτήρια) ενώ ανάμεσα στα άλλα χρησιμοποιείται σε εργοστάσια παραγωγήςχρωμάτων, κόλλας, καθώς και σε βιομηχανικά συστήματα ψύξης νερού για να σκοτώνει τα μικρόβια.
